About
So you’ve found my blog. Welcome. I’m Calvin - a twentysomething all things tech-minded student living in the healthy green suburbs of London, United Kingdom. As someone who wasn’t initially very interested nor impressed with the so called Web 2.0 which is upon us today, a blog was the last thing I would’ve thought to go out and set up. And yet here we are - what you see is the result of one student’s need to rant and discuss about the latest developments in our tech, games and photography industry.
Video Games
I love video games, and I’m proud of it. Whether it’s console or computer, I love video games because it allows me to escape a bit from real life and have fun or compete with other like-minded gamers across the globe. From first person shooters to brain training games, I’m up for anything as long as it’s got a clear premise. I own many gaming systems, but the ones worth mentioning are my Xbox 360, Nintendo DS and of course my computer. If you’re ever up for a round of Gears or a swing at Mario Kart, give me a call.
My Computer
As a tech minded individual, I also love building computers. Nothing beats the sense of achievement you get from finishing a build. I’ve built a good number of computers, so I keep up-to-date with the latest and greatest happenings in the PC building world. So anyways, the facts and figures you really wanted to see:
- 3x Dell 2407WFP 24″ LCD Monitors
- Antec P182
- Intel Q6600 G0
- Corsair HX620W
- OCZ 4GB of RAM
- 150GB Western Digital Raptor X (OS + Software Drive)
- 500GB Samsung Spinpoint (Storage Drive)
- EVGA 8800GTX KO ACS3 SuperClocked
- MSI 8600GT
- Creative X-Fi XtremeMusic
- Vista Home Premium

I’m not just a PC user, I also enjoy using Macs. Yes, that’s right, Macs. I’m one of those “I don’t mind either” folks who don’t necessarily fit in a set crowd of tech. I own a MacBook Pro, and do all my University work on it. It’s a fantastic OS, and I recommend anyone to give it a try before shunning it. This is coming from one who used to do that.
- 15″ Matte Display
- 2.4GHz Santa Rosa
- 2GB RAM
- 160GB Hard drive
- 256MB 8600M GT Graphics

Photography
As a serious hobby, it’s in the infant stages in my life. I used my point and shoot camera for a few years and came to the conclusion that I enjoy taking photos. People, landscapes, trash in the street - it didn’t matter, I shot everything. So I decided to take it upon myself to invest in a DSLR camera, which I have. I even went one step further and signed up to Flickr, so you can see the fruits of my labour for yourself. Feel free to browse through my photos through the thumbnail links available on the left. Here’s a list of the equipment I use:
- Canon EOS 400D
- BG-E3 Battery Grip
- Canon EFS 18-55 f/3.5-5.6
- Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II
- Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS
Previous Work

I founded and ran PSXEvolution (www.psxe.co.uk), a PlayStation fansite from 2002-2005. It was a fan gaming website entirely run by myself including the daily updates, with the majority of the reviews written by me and a select number from outside contributors. All Public Relations were handled by myself as well as any maintenence it required. Unfortunately due to personal committments it was eventually neglected and taken down. It was a good experience while it lasted but more importantly it taught me that you can’t do everything by yourself. The creation of this blog allows me the flexibility of posting content in my own time.
Opportunities
I am always open to new developments and projects, be it freelance work or a one-off review. Feel free to
